A soil whisperer, a brilliant blender, a titan of terroir. Philippe Melka is known by many names, all rarely uttered without an air of awe and reverence. He has been making Napa Valley’s most revered wines for the past 25 years with a string of 100-point scores and has been named one of the top nine wine consultants in the world by robert parker.

Maayan Koschitzky has amassed an impressive winemaking resume spanning from the vineyards of Israel to Screaming Eagle and Dalla Valle here in the Napa Valley, working alongside some of the top winemakers and among the most coveted terroirs in the world. Born and raised in Israel, he moved to Napa in 2011 and joined Atelier Melka in 2014. Maayan has been called “the next big winemaker” and was named one of the 40 Under 40 by Wine Enthusiast in 2019.

It all started in 1888 with one family’s commitment to the world of wine and spirits. The first chapter of their story begins in colorado, where their first company, colorado cooperage works, was the original manufacturer of wood cooperage barrels for coors brewery, among many others.

Their journey led to Kansas in 1948 where they received the third alcohol wholesale license the very same year that prohibition was repealed. Today Kingsmark founder Whitney Skibell, follows in the footsteps of the generations that have preceded her, with a singular vision; to create the first world-class luxury kosher wine.
