born and raised in france, philippe worked for chateau haut brion before moving to napa in 1991. philippe returned napa in 1994 and has called it his home ever since. for the past 20 years philippe has served as the winemaking consultant for some of napa’s most highly regarded brands.

my great-great-grandfather laid the first stone
of this journey with colorado cooperage works,
the first company to craft barrels for coors brewery
in golden, colorado. the next chapter begins in 1948,
when my grandparents, sam and elenore rudd,
took a monumental leap. with their modest life savings,
they secured the third alcohol wholesale license—
just as prohibition ended—and embarked on a new chapter,
one that would span generations.
